PROJECT

— The Overall Vision of the Project —

A voyage planned for 2027, departing from San Diego and bound for Amakusa.
A completely blind sailor crossing the Pacific Ocean solo and non-stop on a 28-foot yacht.
This is unprecedented in the history of ocean sailing anywhere in the world.

The purpose of this project is not simply to achieve a world’s first.

■ One Person’s Choice Expands Society’s Possibilities

Disability, environment, age, gender.
We often find ourselves searching outside for reasons why something cannot be done.
Hiro wants to break through those fixed assumptions.

“Limits are not decided by others.
A life of choice is available to everyone.”

Through the challenge itself, he wants to deliver this message to the world.

■ Technology × Human Challenge

Navigation technology that allows people without sight to sail safely, real- time communication using Starlink, and voice-based support systems that convey all necessary sailing information. As cutting-edge technology neures with hutuan is dement, the very transformed.

This voyage is also a proving ground for future adventuresin which anyone can participate.

■ Returning Home to Amakusa

The trip begins in San Diego.
Its destination is Hiro’s hometown of Amakusa, Kumamoto.

It is a “journey of life,” returning to the sea where he was born and raised,
aiming for the port of Ushibuka beneath Tsūten Bridge,
a place where he once stood at the brink of ending his own life.
